The President of the Lisbon Polytechnic, Elmano Margato congratulated the investigators, the members of the jury and the public institution General Deposit Box that, within their binding strategy and stimulus to higher education, has supported the IPL with the implementation of the IPL/CGD Scientific Awards.
The president of the IPL referred that the "organizational model of this act", which habitually took place at the IPL's Day commemorative ceremony, is not the "format more esplendorous from recognizing the that of us have excelled, with the work developed over the past three years, it is from more elementary justice honoring those who, from among more than a thousand faculty, have highlighted by the quality and quantity of their work".
Already pro-president for Research, Development, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, José Cavaleiro, mentions that "despite this last year having been critical for the teaching activity, we had the capacity to maintain scientific production and bonding to society, increasingly present and expressed goals in the future plans in the generality of higher education institutions ", recalling that the Lisbon Polytechnic, and its eight organic units, presented a growth of 20 a to 30% in projects and publications from 2016 a to 2020.
"We must have, always, present that it is the investigation and development that supports the creation of new knowledge, the update of the letiva component and the, consequent, transfer of knowledge to society." said the president of the institution who asked the award-winning investigators to continue to engage in their activities, being convinced that " the IPL, with the work and commitment of all its organic units, has been taking solid and sober steps in the way of its development. ", he concluded.
Also Jose Cavaleiro, resorting to a sporting image, encouraged the lecturers to want " to play in larger and more challenging championships " in the European plan where the new Horizonte Europe framework program opens up new and varied opportunities, extendable up to 20 /2030, "decisive years for affirmation of our institution as an institution of higher education", the pro-president said. However, it considers that internationalization is not sufficient by being necessary to include IPL researchers in own or shared structures that can guarantee recognition and accreditation in areas of knowing and practice and forms to unlock access to finance and to enable, in the future, doctoral programs.
